Studio render of four pale blue negative-mold tiles assembled into a continuous hexagonal lens pattern
The assembly / four tiles read as one repeatable surface

Product / Product modelling & mold development

One lens. A repeatable surface.

A hexagonal lens master develops into a repeatable negative-mold system, with two spacing options, registration pins and seam-test coupons prepared for prototype review.

01 / The design question

How can one small component become a repeatable surface without losing continuity at the tile seams?

02 / The approach

  1. Develop a positive lens master from the supplied visual references, separating the agreed footprint from reference-based depth and profile estimates.
  2. Repeat the master into negative-mold tiles and compare two spacing options within the available print-bed envelope.
  3. Coordinate tile seams, registration pins and small test coupons before committing to a full-sheet prototype.

03 / Deliverables

  • Lens-master model
  • Two negative-mold spacing options
  • Registration pins and seam-test coupons
  • STL, 3MF and Blender delivery files
  • CAD-style review drawings and model previews

What the work makes clear

The study connects a single component, a printable tile and a larger assembly through one consistent modelling system.
